Hip Hop Karaoke! yeaaaahhhh boyyeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Thursday nights in London are getting hyped. Getting real. Getting raw. In an unassuming storefront building, in oxford circus, one descends the staircase to what seems like a low key, quite venue, only to crack open the door into a space where one is barely able to squeeze through the entrance of what has to be a fire hazardous amount of people, smashed together, eyes glued to the stage. Who are they waiting for? Not Jay-Z, no Kanye...but Chris from MANchesterrrr rep-reeee-senting. Thats right. It's hip hop karaoke, and everyone here is a star.
Originating in New Yorks east village, London's Hip Hop Karaoke sucessfully celebrated it's fifth year of hipness and slickness with a line down the street of people wanting to get in on November 18th. Just when you think karaoke has died down, someone comes up with the brilliant idea of letting you live out your rap star fantasies in front of a crowd of drunk screaming people.
You just haven't seen entertainment until you've seen a middle aged doctor sing Ol' Dirty Bastard...and owning the song from start to finish at that. Only to be upstaged by two women singing Ludacris lyrics about "dresses and breastsesses". Not to mention the gold coat sporting host who gives everyone a hyped up introduction.
Hip hop karaoke is for everyone. A fun lighthearted crowd, living it up on the dancefloor, with classic songs from Notorious BIG to modern day british hip hop artists like The Streets. It;s the perfect opportunity  to dance, sing, be outrageously silly, and get applauded for it all along the way. Come get schooled in the lyrical culture of hip hop any thursday night at The Social. As hip hop legends salt n peppa would say- ahhhhh push it. push it real good.
Hip Hop Karaoke live at The Social every Thursday night starting at 7pm.
