What Would We Do Without Music?

Music is heard everywhere. Whether you are sitting on a bus, in the tube station, or in a store it is difficult to escape the sounds of music. The phenomenon of music has taken over the world. For thousands of years people have enjoyed playing and listening to it. However, could you ever imagine a world without music? A world where you are persecuted for wanting to play or listen? In the musical We Will Rock You this is what happens. Set many years in the future, the government has declared music as an unlawful activity and has made it against the law. It is up to Galileo and Scaramouche, the two main characters, who are outsiders and rebels, to go on an adventure in search of the lost music and musical instruments.
The play was phenomenal. For two and a half hours one is taken into another world and enthralled by the music, characters, and set. The futuristic world of We Will Rock You is unlike any other seen before. The clothing is a very special aspect of the play. The tight clothing, made of spandex and plastic shine in the lights, and the crazy futuristic hairstyles go perfectly. Even more intriguing than the outfits is the set. Large lights of different colors, multiple levels of stage, huge television screens, and moving platforms help add to the intensity and excitement of the performance.
The music of the famous band Queen puts the cherry on top of the entire performance. Any Queen lover would be in heaven listening and singing along to the songs. Even if you are not a Queen fanatic this musical is one to watch. The interaction between the audience and performers is very close and the audience members are told to wave their hands in their air, clap to the music, and sing along. It is hard not to love the musical and fun environment of We Will Rock You. The show is an enjoyable experience and will literally rock you world.

  1. You obviously enjoyed this production and your comments are succinct and valid. I like the way you see the clothing as such a significant aspect of the performance. Perhaps a little more comparison within your description with other performances you might have seen in the past. Overall a very good effort. Dr Q
