Moulin Rouge

During my three day get away to Paris, I attended an unexpected magnificent performance of Moulin Rouge. Walking forty minutes from the hostel to the venue was well worth it as I was surprised to have entered the red light district of Paris. The venue was surrounded by adult stores but most importantly had an extremely long line that took over three blocks. Bright lights lid the venue marked by a red windmill as crowds of people surrounded it awaiting to see the performance. As we slowly entered the venue I began to notice the different artistic portraits that laid against the walls. They were filled with fun and enjoyment that define Moulin Rouge. Finally, we reached the main entrance and are seated in a stage decorated to astonish its audience, for just a second it felt that we were taking part in a movie.
Finally, the play is ready to begin and the curtains are pulled back. Immediately after, we are hit with colored lights and music that captivates the audience. The musical went on for two hours and a half, during this time I witnessed actresses sing along to French music while being top less but most importantly took part of the famous can-can dance. On top of this there was side performance such as acrobats, juggling, and voicing done through puppets. This musical was first introduced into the market as a seductive dance that went from being local to recognized worldwide. Today the Moulin Rouge is a tourist destination that attracts people from all over the world as they are intrigued to see the famous can-can dance.
Although the dancing and singing were amazing experiences to take part in, my favorite time during this play had to be the side acts because the audience was involved more. During these performances the audience felt the same emotions that the performers expressed. My personal favorite side act of the night had to be the puppeteer. He single handedly delivered a brilliant performance that had the entire audience crying from laughter. He incorporated four different languages in his act, each representing a comical sketch.
In conclusion, after witnessing the flashy lights, the half naked women, and amazing performances of the night I was pleased to say that my first reaction of Moulin Rouge was forever changed. In the end while taking my first steps out the door I immediately felt the presence of the surrounding environment that not only Moulin Rouge provided but that the red light district established. Large crowds surrounded the venue, some taking pictures while others were having discussions of what they had witness inside the musical. I would definitely recommend Moulin Rouge to everyone, so if you are ever in Paris this is the performance to attend.
