Salsa Extravaganza Dance Team, Salsa Bar!

Dance is like a language. A language translated by the body in which words cannot express. My love for dance has lead me to confine in all sorts of performances such as street, modern, and Latin dance. I always enjoy watching dancers on stage that can disguise in the beat of the music and with their movements become stars. Luckily, I got the pleasure to watch Salsa Extravaganza Dance Team at the Salsa Bar in London with my friend Yaheema. I got to admit, it was by far one of the most unforgettable performances I have seen.

As we entered the dance floor, I felt my heartbeat pulse rise of excitement. I simply just wanted to dance! I absolutely loved the neon green and yellow light setting and the large crowd of people all dancing to the beat of the salsa music. The DJ was on the far end of the dance floor and was playing full blast. I thought the set up was a great idea because it allowed more space on the dance floor.

When the clock strucked 11pm, the DJ stopped the music and introduced the Salsa Extravaganza Dance Team. The crowd cheered on the dancers as they walked to their positions in the main floor. Clearly, we were all very eager to see what they had to showcase. The girls wore a stupendous red dress, a black hat, and black heels. The guys wore a red button up shirt, black pants, and black shoes. As soon as the music began, the dancers hit every movement from head to toe on point! I was pleasantly surprised to see the incredible partner work on the two couple performers. Each couple took turns in showcasing their own routine. The first couple showcased a continuous and daring lifts. I was amazed by their strong body structure and their ability of continuous lifts throughout the routine. They made every single lift look so effortlessly which is so difficult to project on stage. The second couple showcased their routine using a chair as a prop. They made a good use of the prop by using it as a base for cartwheels. Both routines were exciting and engaging that kept the audience amazed!

I got to admit, I was captivated by the teams ability to stay together in every step. To me, a performance not only consists of good dance techniques but how much passion is brought into the dance floor. The team’s choreography was amazing as it fused to my eye, ear, and mind. Thankfully, I was entertained! Most importantly, this space made me realize how much I miss the stage where I not only dance with my feet but with my heart.  On this incredible night, Salsa Extravaganza definitely allowed me to step into their world of salsa. A world where dance becomes a language and the movement of the body become words. Only then are dancers liberated to disguise into the shining stars at night for the world to see.
